We have an all black cat and when we first got him I so wanted to name him Darth Kitty, wife shot it down. Trying to talk her into letting me get a lizard of some type, I'm so gonna name it The Magnet.
Now the cards are on the table, and the bullets in the gun...

Now I wish I had a pet, just so I could think of a nerdy name. I did have 2 goldfish, Mulder and Scully. They both died. Perhaps a sign I shouldn't move on to big animals.

My auntie had a cat named Pyewacket ... never knew it came from a movie

Classic movie. Jimmy Stuart, Kim Novak and Jack Lemon when he was just a wee lil babe.

My husband and I had 2 neon tetras when we were first married that we called Travis & Bob. We got the names from the movie "Beavis & Butt-Head Do America."

"Little Old Lady: [to her husband] I want you to meet two nice boys.
[She introduces Beavis first]
Little Old Lady: This is Travis and Bob.
[to Butt-head]
Little Old Lady: And, what's your last name, dear?
Butt-head: Uh, Head. My first name is Butt."

It feels lame to say it now.

Of course, they didn't live too long... so maybe that was a sign...

My dogs name is Rio, which really has no nerdy explanation. However, his latest nickname is "Baby Monkey"... which fits surprisingly well.

Awesome names people! NowI'm gonna try to find out if I can rename my dogs Wi-Fi and Mi-Fi.

I have a mini schnauzer named Mozart and cocker spaniel named Zoe. Just like the Disney movie Lady and the Tramp

I tend to name my cats after people or characters.
Currently for cats I have:
Hobbes (from Invisible Man)
Cali (yeah, original name for a calico)
Stewie (from Family Guy)
Milo (after the actor Milo Ventimiglia)

And I had a cat Zoe (from Firefly) that I lost almost 2 years ago.

I've got a black Labrador retriever named Biff, after Biff Tannen from Back to the Future. He's not really a bully like Biff Tannen, though...

i have a friend who named her cat "Gandalf" and another friend who named her cat "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" (by far, the coolest name i've heard for a cat!) As for me...my pets have pretty normal names...i did have a cat named Bacardi....currently, i have a pomeranian named "Charlie" (that is thanks to LOST) :)
