So, Malcolm and I just started a petition to show support for The Hunger Games actors who have recently had a whirlwind of racist remarks thrown at them for simply being African-American, as opposed to Caucasian as many supposed "fans" of the series believed. Please read our petition below:

"After learning of the racism being directed towards The Hunger Games actors Amandla Stenberg, Dayo Okeniyi, and Lenny Kravitz, who portray Rue, Thresh, and Cinna respectively, this petition was started to show support.

It seems that some "fans" of the series are displeased that Rue, Thresh, and Cinna were not Caucasian as they imagined. These people took to the internet to express their dismay of the casting, primarily using the popular social media site, Twitter; many of these tweets include racial slurs. Please take a look at the articles cited below to view some of the messages.

Anyone who could call themselves "fans" of The Hunger Games would not support such vile messages being sent to the three hardworking and talented actors. This petition is simply to show support and take a stand against racism and all prejudice. This petition is not only to show support for African-Americans in film, but to take stand against all feeble attempts to whitewash cinema.

If you stand with equality in film, please stand with us.

Please show support for these actors and take a stand against racism by signing the petition. We also started a Twitter and Tumblr account in case the petition catches fire (unintentional pun).

Please sign today and stand with To Kill a Mockingjay! Thomas Robinson was African-American. You wouldn't expect a Caucasian actor to play him, would you?

How can they protest against Rue and Thresh being afroamerican? Their skin is described as dark in the book, I would have been disappointed if they were caucasian! As for Cinna, who cares about his skincolor, he's amazing!
