Info to help out people in poverty, no matter where you live

09 July 2012 - 08:47 PM

Just found a resource page that provides an overview of global poverty issues. I heard the founder of Speak Up for the Poor speak about ten days ago. He is thoughtful and strategic, and it seems to be a functional and sustainable organization, which is more than a lot of nonprofits can say, from what I have observed.

Social Skillz

03 March 2012 - 06:17 AM

So my best/ only? friend just moved to new york for work. it's only for a few months, but somehow I just realized that means I now do not have friends here.
To keep it short, how do you find people in real life (as opposed to, say, here, where the risk is quite minimal) that you connect to? And, perhaps more importantly, how do you keep that connection going?

I've always been a bit odd/ unconventional, although I look quite mainstream. I have anxiety about going out with new people because I am afraid I will be "stuck" in a place where it's socially awkward to leave and will be miserable and bored.  It feels easier just to go out by myself or stay home.

Web history, Google Privacy Policy changes March 1st

23 February 2012 - 05:06 AM

Hi,
So, I'm not looking at anything too crazy on the internet, but recently in the service of developing fiction I have searched things like narcoterrorism and Mexican drug cartels, just for starters-
soooo- if anyone else has weird search history and does not want that linked to their web profiles, check this and do it before March 1st. I also learned some from the "white papers" link listed in this article.
Love,
R

web calling on iphone

22 February 2012 - 06:40 AM

Hi,
Has anyone had experience setting up/ successfully using unlimited calling plans or sim card plans with truphone, or used google voice web calling on their phone using data rather than minutes? I've consulted several user forums. One user discussed google voice and went through this big thing about using 406 numbers, and it seemed super complicated.

I just got an unlocked iphone from my brother and am trying to figure out what to do with it plan-wise. obviously if I figured out how to make all my calls using only data, that would be kind of awesome. And figure out the best data plans. or use it as an auxiliary phone in wifi sitiations. dunno, just brainstorming.
Thanks,
R
