I actually just had a lecture on cystic fibrosis yesterday and learned that the FDA just approved a new drug to treat it.  Here is a link to the NY Times article about it:
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/01/business/fda-approves-cystic-fibrosis-drug.html
It's actually really cool because it's the first drug to actually target a genetic mutation causing the defect in the CFTR channel instead of just affecting the channel.  It only works on one specific mutation and there are a lot which cause CF, but its still a huge step.

I'll try to remember to post links in here when I read something cool and medical.

Also, I'm a current third year medical student so if anyone is really interested in going to medical school and has questions or wants advice, feel free to contact me and I'll do my best to help

In Topic: Gluten-free

Udi's makes the best gluten free muffins I've found. I've tried the blueberry, chocolate, and lemon struesel, but I think there's also cinnamon rolls. I'm not sure what stores carry their stuff (the one I shop at is regional), but I believe you can buy their items online through their website, and I haven't checked but they probably have some sort of list of stores that carry that brand.
Someone already mentioned Glutino, and I have to agree that they make fantastic gluten free pizzas.

Here are a couple of websites with gluten free recipes (I haven't actually tried most of them because I don't cook much, but a lot of the recipes look like they could be really good):

There are a few chain restaurants that I know for sure have gluten free menus: Pizzeria Uno, Olive Garden, Bonefish Grill, Outback Steakhouse, P.F. Changs. I'm sure there are more but those are the only ones I know off the top of my head.

Also for anyone in or visiting the New York/Pennsylvania area, Wegman's has awesome gluten free sections at least in all the stores near me and the ones my grandma goes to, plus if you go to their website they actually have a list of all the gluten free items in the store.

Definitely rest!  Also though, if you go to a doctor or a physical therapist, there are a few stretches that they can show you that help the pain like you wouldn't believe.  I never would've thought that stretching could help with herniated discs at all, but it really can.

My So-Called Life!!  I love that show!  There's so much more that could've happened with it.
Roswell.  I was so sad when this got cancelled!  I didn't really like the 2nd half of the 3rd season though; I feel like it moved really far away from what it started out as.  So basically if it went back to being more similar to the first 2 seasons I would've loved to have seen it continue.
