Elon Musk + Sci-Fi Travel = Hyper Excited!

What do you get the guy who has everything? Well, you get him to invent the most epic of ways to travel, of course! Yesterday marked another turn for Elon Musk’s entry into the annals of history with the release of his design for the Hyperloop. First came the electric car, yes we all know it has been done before, but who else has the audacity to be able to get it this far? Tony Stark does… Sorry, Elon Musk does. Come on, you cannot tell me they aren’t mirror images!
From the man to the machine, The Hyperloop is basically the most badass, 800 mile an hour version of a monorail, monorail, monorail (Simpsons fans rejoice). Although his time is being taken up with Space-X and Tesla, his idea has done what he knew it would–spark a conversation about the ACTUAL possibilities of travel between Los Angeles and San Francisco in the time it takes to watch an episode of Robot Chicken. “Madness!” I hear you say. Yes, of course it is, but there is no one else in this world apart from Elon Musk that would have the galactic size cajones to pull it off.
“Short of figuring out real teleportation, which would of course be awesome (someone please do this), the only option for super-fast travel is to build a tube over or under the ground that contains a special environment,” Musk wrote this in his proposal, which was posted online at http://www.spacex.com/hyperloop.
The design of the Hyperloop does looks like every gamers dream; a real and rather sexy version of the SSV Normandy. I think even Joker would contemplate cheating on his fair robot for a go on this trip. Either way travelling 400 miles in a creation that is in engineering terms is a large version of the Tube Transport System in Futurama still seems like a sci-fi wet dream come true, and with a price tag for the consumer of only $20 who can argue? Just make sure your head in a jar insurance is paid up. Just in case.
