Fantasy Football: 3 Must-Start Quarterbacks in Week 11
By Alex Hall (@AlexKHall)
Week 11 is a tough one in terms bye weeks with notable names like Marshawn Lynch and Eli Manning’s teams unavailable in fantasy leagues. With that in mind, there are still some nice options worthy of starting at the quarterback position. Here are three must-start QBs to have in your lineup this week.
Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys
Not sure if word has gotten around yet, but the Cleveland Browns are bad. Romo and the Cowboys will take on the Browns and their 22nd ranked passing defense.
The Dallas starting quarterback is known for his up-and-down reliability but he also plays his best football in the month of November. In case you haven’t checked your calendars recently, that’s this month. His career numbers in the year’s second-to-last month consist of a 67completion percentage, 54 touchdowns and a 111-passer rating.
The Browns are going to struggle to shut down a Romo who is playing in his favorite month of the season and after a clutch victory against the Eagles in Week 11. Count him as safe to start for this contest and the rest of this month until he proves otherwise.
Matthew Stafford, Detroit Lions
This week the Lions are effectively playing for their playoff hopes sitting at 4-5 against NFC North rival Green Bay. That means quarterback Matthew Stafford will likely be extra motivated which should help him put up big numbers against the Pack’s No. 20 passing defense.
Stafford has already been on a bit of a roll in recent weeks, posting no less than a 67 completion percentage in the last three weeks. Over that time, he has posted six touchdowns compared to just two interceptions and nothing less than 285 yards passing.
The Lions may be below .500, but it isn’t due to their former No. 1 overall draft pick considering they currently rank as the NFL’s best passing attack. Expect a shootout at Ford Field this Sunday in which Stafford owners will enjoy thoroughly.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, Buffalo Bills
The Bills are another team that has had their fair share of struggles but it’s hard not to like Fitzpatrick’s odds at a big day after the Titans posted 31 points on the Dolphins Week 10.
Fitzpatrick and the Bills offense will face those same Dolphins this week which is encouraging considering his recent performances. The Harvard graduate has five touchdowns in the last three weeks with just two interceptions.
Like Stafford, Fitzpatrick has been a reliable passer in recent weeks as well. He hasn’t posted less than a 66 completion percentage over the past three games. Those games came against the Titans, Texans and Patriots.
Obviously the Bills QB is not the player most fantasy mangers would like to start at this crucial position but bye weeks come for desperate measures. Fitzpatrick has had a hot streak as of late and is playing a less-than-stingy Dolphins passing defense which should translate to decent fantasy numbers this week.
