Inside The Incredible Hulk

No doubt Glendon Mellow freaked out over The Avengers as much as most of us did upon its release. The film even inspired him to pull out a ten-year-old drawing he’d done of the inner workings of the Hulk’s head. Literally.

“I tried to draw on not only my mother’s nursing school anatomy textbooks, but also gorilla and hominid ancestor skulls (such as Paranthropus, though my murky text identifies it with the outdated Zinjanthropus name), inspiration for things like the cranial ridge and large jaw muscles. I included details such as 3 scars on the bone (I’m Canadian: Wolverine wrecked his face a few times and I wanted to document that) and perfect glowing teeth. If anyone has perfect shiny teeth, it needs to be Hulk,” explained Mellow.

A lesson about the muscular and skeletal systems using The Incredible Hulk would make any respectable Biology class complete. At least it would have made it a million times more interesting for me. Maybe I wouldn’t have gotten in quite as much trouble for using the scalpel as a poker during dissections, or maybe I wouldn’t have face-palmed quite as hard from my professor using “Reproduction” from Grease 2 as a learning tool, who knows?
