Following the success of its original series’, Netflix is looking to double their programming and expand into original movies as well.  The company is searching out several documentaries to premiere on Netflix, as well as hoping to partner with Comcast or a pay TV provider to widen their distribution. Netflix currently has more than 30 million customers in the U.S.

Nintendo has officially stopped production of the Wii in Japan. The console has sold almost 13 million units since its launch in 2006. This is not the end of motion control gaming, though, with Sony and Microsoft both having their own alternatives. Not only that, but Wii remotes will remain compatible with the Wii U. No word on when production will end in the rest of the world.

Apple announced the newest generation iPad at their keynote address. The fifth generation tablet will be called the iPad Air and promises to be thinner, lighter, and faster than previous generations. It will go on sale November 1. The company also announced a new version of its iPad Mini that will come in silver or gray and have a faster processor and higher resolution display. Also revealed was the new operating system, OS Mavericks, which is available for free download now.

Sherlock fans rejoice, because a premiere date for season three has finally been announced. The show will return in America on PBS on January 19 following the premiere of Downton Abbey January 5. This is the first time the U.S. air date has been revealed before the U.K. one and comes after nearly two years of fan speculation about when it would come back. The first episode back is titled “The Empty Hearse,” with “The Sign of Three” and “His Last Vow” following.

The first trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier has hit the Internet. The trailer is very SHIELD-heavy and finds Steve Rogers in the confusing modern world. It also introduces Cap’s new sidekick the Falcon, Robert Redford’s head of SHIELD, and bigger parts for Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. Captain America: The Winter Soldier comes out April 4, 2014.

Multiple teaser photos for the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past have been revealed. The film is inspired by the 1981 comic book storyline of the same name and combines the cast from the original X-Men films with those from First Class for a wibbly-wobbly, timey-bendy adventure. The movie hits theatres May 23, 2014. Check out the photos here and here.
