I won’t start this review talking about what the wikipad was originally set to be, like some, but what it is.

AWESOME. I had a good week and a half to play with this amazing little device and have to say, color me impressed.

Let’s start with the specs, the tablet is a slim, 7 inches and packs a 1.3 GHz Tegra 3.0 a 1gb of DDR3 ram which is more than plenty of punch to play the games available on the android platform today. It has an expandable micro SD slot for up to 32GB, wireless a/b/g, and a lovely resolution of 1280×800.

The included controller mount adds a bit of width to the device, but I found this to be a good thing. The controls were comfortable and felt familiar enough to get used to in very little time. It also has a nice grip to it which will be handy for those clumsy gamers or nerdlings that like to accidentally toss electronics on the floor. The controller made games like GTA III and Dead Trigger much more fun to play than on a standard tablet. Side-scrollers like Reaper also were an absolute blast to play as well, which brings me to my next point.

While a few games did not respond well with the controls, many did and many more should in the future. Imagine downloading a console emulator (assuming you have the games and console) and playing all your favorite old school games in the palm of your hands. There are tons of tips and tricks you can do with the device with its Android 4.1-based platform that can make your gaming experience even better. It may not be a console replacement but would be a great addition to your collection and great on the road.

But you may ask yourself, what if I don’t want to play games all the time? Well, the Wikipad is an excellent standalone tablet in its own right! It’s fast and responsive and best of all, it’s Android! Browse the internet for cat videos, check your email or read your comics, it does everything you need it to do! With a price point of $250.00, its hard to find a drawback to getting one.

Overall, this little device is the real deal.
