OH MY GOD! THAT’S KENTA’S MUSIC! Wait…who? Wrestling nerds, if you are not watching WWE NXT, then right now is the time to start. Not only is it a far cry from the normal WWE programming Raw and Smackdown, but it features some amazing talents before they hit the big stage. Since this is my first NXT article, I am going to introduce you to the names and faces you need to know when you start watching NXT.

So to summarize what NXT is, it is the proving ground for WWE developmental talent. NXT is filmed in Orlando, FL, at the Full Sail University. Stars like Seth Rollins, Cesaro, Daniel Bryan, Big E, Rusev, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, Bo Dallas, and so many more have worked NXT before moving to the main WWE roster. The current crop is just as impressive, with some gigantic indie stars coming into the fold soon as well.

Adrian Neville

Neville is the current NXT champion, and is known as The Man that Gravity Forgot. I thought it was a dumb nickname until I saw his finisher The Red Arrow. He beat Bo Dallas in a ladder match for the NXT Championship and has held it ever since. Every former NXT Champion is on the WWE main roster, so look for Neville to make the leap soon.

Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn was a huge indie star under the name El Generico and is beloved by the NXT faithful. If you look up the best NXT matches thus far, Sami Zayn is going to be in them. His matches against Cesaro were incredible, but Zayn has yet to capture the NXT Championship.

KENTA, as he is known internationally, originated CM Punk’s Go To Sleep and Daniel Bryan’s knee-to-the-face finisher…enough said.

Prince Devitt

Devitt could be the king of Comic Con with his crazy body paint. He is apparently a Marvel fanboy judging from his numerous Spider-Man-themed body paintings. I really hope WWE brings him in with the paint because it looks freaking crazy. Apparently he is a really entertaining wrestler too.

Kevin Steen

Steen was arguably the biggest fan favorite from Ring of Honor before he signed to NXT. He is a larger guy that isn’t afraid to do some high flying. It will be interesting to see how WWE repackages him, mainly due to the fact his finisher is a package piledriver and those are a no-no in WWE.

NXT is available on the WWE Network and honestly is worth the $9.99 by itself. NXT airs every Thursday and past episodes are available on WWE Network as well. Kenta, Devitt, and Steen all signed around the same time and should be making their debuts very soon!

Awesome write up! Can’t wait to finally see Devitt in action, I also hope they let him use the paint. Steen is AMAZING, hopefully they will let him do his thing on the mic, which is where he really shines. I’m hoping they bring in KENTA as a Heyman guy, that would be perfect.
